SS#6: Let's FU fossil fuels together (special)

This weeks email introduces you to something new

Hello, and welcome to Solar Saturday.

My last few weeks have been caffeine-fuelled for one very good reason. Late nights, early mornings, lots of meetings (sound familiar?). I'll be honest, it reminded me a lot of corporate life, despite my aim to have a more entrepreneurial workload and life balance. But in the interest of getting a startup out of the gates, it was necessary and rather fulfilling.

I make no secret about the fact I've been building something new - I've been tight-lipped about it during build stage. For those who do not know me, I've spent the last 10 years or so in Corporate roles at large solar institutions Q CELLS and Enphase - in Sales and Leadership functions. My roots are deep-seated in UK and European markets, covering Utility, Commercial and more recently Residential. Prior to that I started my solar industry  career helping installation and distribution businesses to scale (or ride the UK solarcoaster!). You could say Solar is in my blood, if that were possible!

I'm absolutely delighted to tell you, that you are part of my VIP launch - general release is soon but it was only right that I gave my loyal readers the heads-up...

I wanted to build a community.

I wanted to shine a light on the brilliant work being done in UK solar.

I wanted to provide a channel to help solar businesses grow here in the UK.

Enter then, my new business: Solar Crowd.

Built by industry people to be genuinely useful. Built to be inclusive of ANYTHING and ANYONE UK SOLAR related.

Here's what we will be discussing on the site and socials:

  • People - they are what makes this industry truly remarkable

  • Projects - at this time it's great to see so much activity

  • Brands - insights and useful messages from the brands we all love or may well love soon

I built this as a user. I wanted to create something inclusive and genuinely useful.

I built this as a brand. It's hard for brands and marketing teams to really communicate well in the UK.

And so together, my aim is for Solar Crowd to be genuinely useful to you all. The market is growing, we have new people everywhere. Let's welcome them, and help them understand and grow.

My ask to my loyal readers = a plea... (I won't do this often ;))

When you see some promotion on solar media from us in the next days: Please share, like, whatever - it really does help to reach more of the industry than I can manage on my own.

But you can always contribute news stories of your own - perhaps a nice installation or new hire in your business. You may have won a new tender or you start a new team. Please share it to me via my email, or copy me in on social media.

We have lined up a collaboration on training from one of the best in the industry (more soon) and we have started to partner with brands too. Reach out for opportunities. I'd be happy to chat.

Head on over to the site, join social media to stay-updated.

Thanks for reading, have a great Saturday!

Sean (signing off as Founder at Solar Crowd...!)
