My 'Lightbulb' moment in Solar AI?

It allowed me some thinking... as I began to write about how AI can help us in the solar industry, there was a lightbulb moment...

Welcome to the first Solar Saturday of 2023!

You might have caught some news coverage about AI becoming a hugely useful tool for us all in many ways. You are already using AI, algorithms and automation in some applications such as social media, solar tools (such as OpenSolar), landing finding tools (such as NimbusMaps). Even simply switching your lights on at home with a smart sensor, it's everywhere!

It allowed me some thinking... as I began to write about how AI can help us in the solar industry, there was a lightbulb moment...

I'll use AI to write this week's post!

I was also planning to share some Sales and Marketing tips that busy installers could use to sprice up their 'new year, new you' focus.

So here is it, courtesy of the much covered ChatGPT service - below provided by AI on how to improve your solar marketing in seconds...

ChatGPT: Solar installers have a unique marketing challenge. On one hand, the demand for solar energy is increasing as people become more aware of the environmental and financial benefits. On the other hand, the solar industry is crowded and competitive, and it can be difficult for installers to stand out from the crowd.

Here are some ways that solar installers can improve their marketing efforts:

  1. Focus on building trust with potential customers. Solar installations are a big investment, and people want to feel confident that they are making the right choice. This means being transparent about pricing, offering detailed information about products and services, and being available to answer questions.

  2. Utilize online marketing. A strong online presence is essential for any business, and this is especially true for solar installers. Make sure you have a website that is easy to navigate and provides all the information that potential customers need. Use social media to connect with customers and showcase your work.

  3. Utilize local SEO tactics. When people search for solar installers in their area, you want to make sure that your business shows up near the top of the search results. This means optimizing your website for local keywords and making sure your business is listed on local directories and review sites.

  4. Partner with other businesses. Consider partnering with local businesses or organizations that share your values and mission. For example, you could partner with a home builder to offer solar installations to new homeowners, or with a non-profit focused on environmental issues to raise awareness about the benefits of solar energy.

  5. Offer financing options. Many people are interested in solar energy but are hesitant to make the upfront investment. Offering financing options, such as loans or leases, can make it easier for people to go solar.

By implementing these strategies, solar installers can effectively market their business and attract new customers.

So there you have it. In less than 10 seconds I've got a reasonable post that's going to help you improve your marketing... everyone in solar marketing roles are going to hate me (!).

Or will they?

AI is a really impressive tool. I will use AI to help me with some new initiatives, but ultimately it lacks detail and lacks personality. It will improve for sure, but for now, content creation is going to be less AI and more human...

How do you see AI, algorythms etc helping us all to deploy bigger and better solar in the UK? Genuinely, I am interested to hear. Reply to me here or on my LinkedIn page.
